Who gets genital herpes? Any one who is sexually active can get genital herpes. You may also get genital herpes if you have oral sex with someone that has cold sores. You can still be infected even if your other half doesn't have an open sore, or any signs or symptoms of genital herpes.
The infection may cause blisters that shed viruses. If someone else rubs against a blister, the pathogen can enter thru the skin. Kissing can also broadcast the pathogen if the mucous surfaces of the mouth are infected. For many of us with herpes, the symptoms will return. A return of symptoms is known as a recurrence. Recurrences are likely with HSV-2 infection than with HSV-1. The signs that are not quite so obvious include headaches, body aches, fever, and influenza like symptoms.
